Michigan primary do-over fails

The Michigan legislature was not able to work out a deal that was satisfactory to both candidates, so we are not having a new primary.  Gov. Granholm has implied that there might still be another option, and some people are talking about caucuses, so we shall see.

Obama campaign holding up Michigan re-vote

Several news sources, including the Detroit News and the Grand Rapids Press, are reporting that the main roadblock to a new primary in Michigan is the Obama campaign.

If you haven't already, please let Barack Obama know that it's important to you that Michigan's votes are counted.  The best way to contact the Obama campaign is through their Web site, at:

Michigan Re-Vote

It sounds like there is now a real possibility of a re-vote in Michigan.  This is exciting news!  But it is by no means a sure thing.  If we want to make this happen, there isn't much time---the Michigan State House of Representatives leaves for a recess in just a few days.  In order for the results to be counted, they will need to pass legislation to enact a new primary before the end of next week.

Lessons from the Michigan Primary

It's been almost two weeks since Michigan's primary, and I think there are some important lessons to be drawn from it.

Great response, and upcoming primary

I'd like to thank everybody for the great response since putting this site up just a few days ago!  We've already collected lots of names on the petition, and have had hundreds of visitors from all over the country.

Letter to the DNC

Dear Democratic National Committee,

I'm wondering what to expect in Michigan this year.  Since the DNC has made the decision to render our primary worthless, is there a plan in place to provide another opportunity for Michigan's Democrats to choose our presidential nominee?

I will certainly have a hard time supporting any Democrats in the general election if Michigan is completely disenfranchised from the Democratic primary.
